MISSIONS

Our Mission Statement: Loving ALL to Christ!

Calhoun First Presbyterian Church is committed to participating in God's mission for Christ's Chruch. We would love for you to join us and get involved with some of our mission projects:

Annual Christmas in July Program
CFPC has participated in this program since 2009, which provides necessities for under-privileged families in our community. They provide everything from clothes, shoes, school supplies, toothpaste and bathroom tissue. Items are collected several months in advance of the mid-July delivery date. In 2021, this program served over 150 families in our community!

LIVE2540 (Formerly known as Orphan Aid Liberia)
Donations to LIVE2540, a 501(c)3 organization, provide meals to orphans in Liberia, funds to construct dormitory housing, schools and to help build a new hospital. We LOVE this organization! On one Sunday not too long ago, we shared our love with the children of Liberia by providing funds for 4,848 meals!

Pearson’s Missions in Malawi, Africa
Rev. Dr. Steve Pearson, a retired Baptist minister, formed this group several years ago. Every year, he takes a team to Malawi to preach the Gospel and win souls to Christ. Donations to this mission have enabled them to build a home for the widow of a local pastor in Malawi, who was living in a shack and raising her three grandchildren. What a blessing it must be for them to have a safe home! Donations have also been used for drilling new wells to provide clean water.

Ray of Hope
Ray of Hope is a non-profit organization here in Calhoun/Gordon County serving low-income seniors, veterans, disabled and young families. They give out food boxes by appointment on a monthly basis and also have an emergency food bank to help out whenever a need arises.

Love the Children
This program is based in Haiti and was founded by Bob Lichy, a great friend of our church. Donations received go to provide educational opportunities for children of all ages.

Family Resource Center of Gordon County
The Family Resource Center works in child abuse prevention and provides services for positive parenting, increased family well-being and school readiness.

Laurel Guess Kindergarten Class at Sonoraville Elementary
The Mission Committee at CFPC helps Mrs. Guess to provide goodie and activity bags to children during their holiday breaks from school.

Thanksgiving Fruit Baskets
The committee provides a basket of fruits and nuts for homebound members of our church family to help brighten up the holiday!

CFPC Benevelonce Fund & Food Pantry
The Benevelonce Fund was begun in 2017. Each year this fund provides over $12,000 to help individuals and families in our local community with assistance for utility and rent bills once per year. The Food Pantry, begun in 2022, is available to help anyone in the community by providing groceries to those in need.
We believe that our greatest strength is our commitment to missions, with all praise and glory to God.
Proverbs 22:9 teaches us that “A generous man will himself be richly blessed for he shares his food with the poor.”
